Chernobyl VR Project

Chernobyl VR Project is a virtual trip to Chernobyl that we develop to showcase the capabilities of our in-house virtual reality technology. We aim to publish the application in April 2016 – the 30th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster. Chernobyl VR Project is an edutainment application that will allow users to take a virtual trip around the disaster’s site using a VR headset. The Farm 51 team plans on staying true to reality when recreating the power plant grounds and parts of the city of Pripyat. We wish to immortalize the polluted zone before it is closed or destroyed, and let the user learn about the events of April 26, 1986.

The Reality 51 technology that we employ for our Chernobyl project uses state-of-the-art graphics solutions adapted to the emerging Virtual Reality market, such as advanced 3D scans, spherical photography, stereoscopic videos, augmented reality, and hand-made models. We aim at making the application compatible with major VR headsets, such as Samsung Gear VR, Oculus, or Sony Morpheus.
